FINANCIAL INFORMATION

FEE STRUCTURES

Fees and other financial obligations are the sole responsibility of the student and/or the sponsor or guardian. The fees are payable in full at the beginning of each academic year or in two instalments; at the beginning of each semester.

Failure of payment of Fees by the end of week two of the second semester will attract a penalty of 100,000/= Tshs. All moneys payable to the University shall be paid directly into the University account presently with CRDB. No student will be allowed to carry forward part of the fee into the following academic year. Fees may be revised from time to time without prior notice. New fee structures will apply for new intake as well as for continuing students. Fees paid will not be refunded after the first four weeks of the academic year. Any excess/extra fees paid will be carried forward to the next year.

It is envisaged that student can take advantage of scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, loans from the Higher Education Student Loan Board (HESLB) and Scholarships from The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for postgraduate and students in the Institute of Allied Health Sciences.

Diploma Courses Entrance Requirements

MODE OF APPLICATION FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

Applicants should visit CUHAS website, download and fill in the Application Form and submit their applications directly to the College. Please attach copies of your Form 4 (‘O’ Level), Form 6 (‘A’ Level), Birth Certificate and 2 passport size photographs with a non-refundable application fee of Tshs. 30,000/- by postal order or paid through the University Bank Account No. 01J1054045500 with CRDB.

Minimum General Entry Requirements (DMLS, DDR, DPS)

A holder of form VI certificate (“A” Level) with one principal and two subsidiaries in the sciences subject of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics OR A holder of form IV certificate (‘O’ Level) of secondary school Education or its Equivalent with three credit in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics

Equivalent Qualification Requirement:

Laboratory Assistant/ Pharmaceutical Assistant/Radiographic Assistant from recognized institution with at least two year of clinical laboratory experience/ pharmacy practice/radiographic experience, provided the applicant has two passes in science subjects in ordinary level secondary education.

Undergraduate Courses

SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

The school of Medicine offer Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme.
Entry Requirements for the MD course
  1. Principal PASS at “D” grade or higher in PHYSICS, "C" in CHEMISTRY and "C" in BIOLOGY, at ADVANCED (“A”) level. Preference will be given to applicants with “C” grade or above in CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY. THOSE without Physics should have Principal pass at “C” grade or higher in CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY and a “D” grade or higher in CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY [Five points or higher (C + D = 5 points) from two subjects]. For those who completed “A” Level in 2014 and 2015 (B + C = 5 points from two subjects)
  2. Holders of Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degrees, from recognized institutions, majoring in BIOLOGY or CHEMISTRY.
  3. Equivalent Qualifications: Holders of Diploma in Clinical Medicine with a B+ average in the Diploma.


SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

The School of Pharmacy offers courses leading to the offer of the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B. Pharm).
Entry Requirements for Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) course
  1. Direct Entry (Form Six)
    Principal PASS at “D” grade or higher in PHYSICS, "C" in CHEMISTRY and "C" in BIOLOGY, at ADVANCED (“A”) level. Preference will be given to applicants with “C” Passes or above in CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY, in that order. THOSE without Physics should have Principal pass at “C” grade or higher in CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY and a “C” grade or higher in CHEMISTRY or BIOLOGY [Five points or higher (C + D = 5 points) from two subjects].     1. Holders of Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degrees, from recognized institutions, majoring in BIOLOGY or CHEMISTRY.
    2. Holder of a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized and accredited Institution by NACTE with an average of “B+” in the Diploma


ARCHBISHOP ANTHONY MAYALA SCHOOL OF NURSING

  1. The Archbishop Mayala School of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education (Bsc.NED) under the following categories:

    • A 2 - year programme for those with Advanced Diploma in Nursing Education
    • A 3 - year programme for those with Diploma in Nursing
    • A 4 - year programme for those who are direct Form six leavers
    1. Entry Requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education (4 yrs course)
    2. Holder of form-six certificate with THREE Advanced level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology; at least TWO passes at “D” or higher [Minimum of 4 points (D + D = 4 points) from two subjects]. For those who finished “A” Level in 2014 and 2015 [minimum of 4 points (C + C = 4 points) from two subjects]
    3. Entry Requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education (3 yrs course)
    4. Holder of form-six certificate with THREE Advanced level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology; at least TWO passes at “D” or higher [Minimum of 4 points (D + D = 4 points) from two subjects]. For those who finished “A” Level in 2014 and 2015 [minimum of 4 points (C + C = 4 points) from two subjects]

      Equivalent Qualifications:
      Holders of Diploma in Nursing with a B+ average in the Diploma preference will be given for those who have attempted A level.
    5. Entry Requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education (2 yrs course)
    6. Equivalent Qualification:
      Holder of Advanced Diploma in Nursing Education as recognized by NACTE. With a B grade at Advanced Diploma preference will be given for those who have attempted A level.
  2. The Archbishop Anthony Mayala School of Nursing also offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc.N) under the following categories:
  • B.Sc. in Nursing (4 years programme)
  • B.Sc in Nursing (3 years post basic)
Entry Requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (4 yrs. course)
A Holder of form six certificate with TWO advanced level passes at “D” grade or above in CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY or PHYSICS in that order of preference (i.e: minimum of D, D = 4 points from two subjects). For those who finished “A” Level in 2014 and 2015 (minimum of C, C = 4 points from two subjects)

Postgraduate Courses

SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

The School of Graduate Studies is currently offering Master of Medicine (MMED) programmes in the clinical disciplines of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Anaesthesiology. The School also offers MPH and Master in Paediatric Nursing (Msc.PN) programmes, and PhD programmes in various specialities.
Entry Requirement for the MMED Programmes
Minimum Entry requirement
  1. A holder of MD degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning
  2. Must have scored (during the undergraduate final examinations) a grade of B or Higher in the specialty he/she wants to specialize.
  3. Must have successfully completed internship and obtained a grade of B or Higher in the specialty he/she wants to study.
  4. Must have completed at least one year working experience as a medical practitioner in a recognized hospital.
Entry Requirement for the MPH Programmes
  1. Holders of MD degree or its equivalent with a pass of B grade or above in Community Medicine and at least one year of working experience.
  2. Holders of B. Sc. Nursing degree with a pass of B grade or above in Community Medicine and at least one year of working experience.
  3. Holders of first degree in health related disciplines (Health officers, Environmental health, Pharmacy or Laboratory sciences) provided they passed with a lower second and have at least one year of working experience
  4. Holders of Master Degree in health related disciplines with at least one year of working experience.
Entry Requirements for MSc.PN Program
  1. A GPA of at least 2.7 in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing education (BScNE) or Bachelor of Science in Mental Health Nursing (BScM) or Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BScMid) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Management from a recognized University
  2. Graduates from the other recognised Universities with at least a GPA of 2.7 in their first degrees mentioned above are eligible for selection when they have fulfilled the following criteria specified under item iii. and iv, below.
  3. Graduates mentioned in item i. above should have a minimum of 2 years work experience
  4. Graduates should have a valid license to practice as registered nurses and midwives with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC) before their enrolment to the program
Requirement for the PhD Programmes Registration
  1. The prospective candidate must demonstrate the capacity to carry out research independently and ability to pursue the proposed study programme.
  2. A candidate for admission for a PhD must be a holder of a relevant Master Degree (MSc, or MMED) of CUHAS-Bugando or any other recognized institution of higher learning within or outside Tanzania
