Students who successfully complete the Program of Diploma of Pharmaceutical Sciences are conferred the Diploma of Pharmaceutical Sciences by Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS)
The program prepares Pharmaceutical Technician to work collaboratively with registered Pharmacists and the inter-professional health care team within their scope of practice. Students will learn dispensing and compounding skills using knowledge from a compounding Lab and supervised rotations in Bugando Hospital, a tertiary Referral and Consultant Hospital, which is located within the same area with the college. Courses within the Program focus on Basic Pharmaceutical Theories and Calculations, inventory management, relevant legislations, Pharmacology, Entrepreneurship, provision of pharmaceutical care and pharmacy services in Community Pharmacies. The Program also focus on inspiring students to embrace the philosophy of lifelong learning and dynamism by providing them opportunity to conduct fieldwork in various hospitals around Tanzania Mainland, conduct field tours in various Institutions like Water Treatment Plants etc. The successful graduates will be required to be enroll with the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania so as to enable to practice as pharmacy technicians within The United Republic of Tanzania (Mainland) as per the requirement of Tanzania’s Pharmacy Act of 2011. Pharmaceutical Technicians are considered valued and essential members of health care team.
