AAMSON strives for excellence in training, research, consultancy and public health related services that respond to National, Regional and Global challenges.
The mission of AAMSON is derived from that of the Catholic University of Health & Allied Sciences; its parent university. AAMSON endeavours to further the mission of CUHAS through ensuring that this mission is congruent with the mission of nursing in society, which is to help individuals, families and groups to determine and achieve their physical, mental, spiritual and social potential, and to do so within the challenging context of the environment in which they live and work. This requires nurses to develop and perform functions that relate to the promotion and maintenance of health as well as to the prevention of ill health. Nursing also includes assessment, planning and implementation of care during illness and rehabilitation, and encompasses the physical, mental, spiritual and social aspects of life as they affect health, illness, disability and dying.
To do this, AAMSON, therefore, endeavours:
- To provide skilled and competent human resources in the health sector that is vested with moral and ethical values,
- Search, discover and communicate the truth to advance the frontiers of knowledge, and
- Provide quality services to the community”.
